Community Arts We work in partnership with a wide range of statutory and community organisations in providing accessible theatre and arts projects. Many of our previous projects have involved working with vulnerable and hard to reach adults, to promote their social inclusion in the community. We believe it is important to create projects for disadvantaged groups who are experiencing barriers to participation due to health and economic restrictions. Fit & Funky ‘FIT & FUNKY’ was a dynamic and exciting Arts in Health outreach project. Community Vibe is proud to have worked in partnership with Rosie Kay Dance Company,  creating a unique piece of dance theatre that looks at the misconceptions of mental health. This culminated in ‘MIND OUT’ which was performed at the Patrick Centre, Birmingham  Hippodrome as part of the West Midlands Cultural Olympiad Programme. This project was unique in its approach, as we provided weekly workshops to in-patients at  Oleaster National Centre for Mental Health and CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health  Services) Ardenleigh Hospital and Park View Clinic, part of BSMHFT. Services World Mental Health Day Mind Up In 2010, Community Vibe worked in partnership with BSMHFT to host WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY’S flagship event on behalf of the national anti-stigma campaign ‘Time to Change’. The theme of the event was ‘Time to Get Moving Birmingham’ and aimed to get people involved in a range of physical activities which they could engage with on the day. We provided over 40 stalls of activity and hosted a line-up of main stage events, working closely with other organisations both statutory and voluntary. The event, which took place in Birmingham’s Cannon Hill Park, was one of three primary events in England. ‘MIND UP’ was a drama, storytelling and film-making outreach project which was open to members of the local community. Participants worked with specialist artists in creating and performing short stories, in the form of poetry, song, video and playscript. This project focused on the positive aspects of the individual, allowing the development of skills that will contribute towards positive health and wellbeing. It also supported people in their artistic aspirations, allowing them to become involved in all aspects of the creative process. The work achieved through this project was presented as ‘TALKING EMOTIONS’ and was performed at The Library Theatre, Birmingham. Here are some examples of our most recent projects...
